• Info: I discovered this piece from the Discovering Piano Literature collection which is very fitting the theme of this recital. I am already a huge fan of Bela Bartok, so it seemed a no-brainer when I ran into this one a few months ago. My interoperation turned out to be very melancholic without a serious intention to do so - I naturally gravitate towards overlaying gloomy moods on a lot of pieces that I play. This comes in contrast with my general upbeat attitude towards life, so the fact that I keep choosing pensive pieces for my repertoire is a surprise to me. Perhaps, it allows me to settle into meditative flow making the experience enjoyable and sought after. Either way, the goal accomplished - I found pleasure in learning this piece, and I enjoyed playing it. Hopefully, some notes from thing song will trigger positive experience for you as well.
