Info: I have been reading on the forum a long time, so I thought it was maybe time to contribute something. Dont want to get tangled up in the discussions, so I play something.
Normally I (try to) get up a 5 in the morning to practice a few hours. All for myself with headphones. Nobody outside my family really hears me ever play, so it is rather confidential. Now I share it with you, Confidencias. Still dont know how I got confident enough to upload it in the first place.
About the piece: It is a slow, sentimental valse. It is not too difficult, but difficult to get the rhythm right. Off course I screw up a few times, but thats me, always do that, cant do better unfortunately. Fast arpeggio runs up and down is where the Pros get separated from the amateurs. Yes, it still needs some work here and there.
Ernesto Nazareth was a Brazilian composer. Music is from around 1900. It is a bit at the border between classical and popular. He played piano at the Odeon cinema in Rio de Janeiro. Some of the music indeed seems to fit perfectly silent film. He was inspired by the rhythms of the local music. He composed many small pieces, quite virtuoso some of them. Especially Brazilian Tangos ( Maxixe, but he didnt want to call it like that). It is great fun to play, short pieces, very good for development of technical skills (big jumps, fast repeated chords, runs, rhythms etc).
