Info: I'm sorry for those who'll have listen to it as part of the 50th recital. I didn't know there was a Debussy's theme recital when I submit my piece for the 50th recital. Having known, I had other pieces I could have sumited...
I was adviced to sumit my piece for the themed recital anyway, since there was a lot of submission in the 50th recital and I could more easily be missed in there.
So, same piece, same interpretation. Sorry about that.
About the piece, I practiced it as a part of my level 7 exam repertoire. I mainly liked, at first, the technical challenge of this piece (rythm is not my strenght...), but then I've discovered some other aspects that I like, like contrasting mood (some dreamy/melancholic and some more carefree and innocent).
The examiner at the exam thought it was my favorite piece and really like my interpretation. I was surprised, since, of the 5 pieces I had to learn for the exam, this one is probably the 4th in my order or preference.
But I was happy to know I could convey a convincing interpretation anyway.
I'm eager to dive into some more advanced Debussy's pieces. I may not like this one very much, but I like Debussy's in general. As I progress, I'll learn a few others (Golliwog cakewalk next year!).
I'm happy to see a themed recital for this composer and impatient to hear other interpretations!
