Info: This is an original work I've been working on for around two months, and that's two months straight to the demise of every thing else I've been working on. I got a bit obsessed. I think one reason I got as obsessed with it is that I was determined to write it out as close as possible to what I would play for the recital. That in itself was an interesting and educational experience; I couldn't just play it but had to figure out what I was doing and how to write it. For writing I used the program MuseScore. Anyway, the piece is most likely influenced by the various Philip Glass works I've been tackling for the last few years. It's fairly fast (although works well I think slow) and needs to be played in a flowing manner. There is a melody at times within the triplets and I did my best to play and notate that. It's entitled "A Situation" and is meant to convey the feelings one gets when confronted by the various "situations" in life. It starts off rather dire, mellows out and ends with dire and maybe trickling towards resolution; or not. I think, at least for me, that it's a lot of fun to play. If anyone is interested I put the work up on youtube along with the sheet music. If you do follow along you will no doubt notice that I do not stay true to the sheet music at the beginning "pulsing" area and in two "pulsing areas" in the middle. I just got a little carried away in those spots while playing.
