• Info: I can live with this recording, mistakes and all. Even after all of these months of tilting at this piece, I still find it, especially the 3-voice fugue, to be beautiful. You can sense the Bach behind the prelude and fugue, even though Shostakovich has put together completely modern ideas and sounds. The great thing about these recitals is hearing music that you had no awareness of. One of my favorite pianists, Keith Jarrett recorded all 24 of these preludes and fugues, something I was unaware of, and they're wonderful interpretations. I started the fugue way back in winter, but couldn't figure out how to handle the fingering. After taking a break for a few months, it seemed obvious, that everything was based on hand shifting and the left hand taking over any voice when necessary. As always, fugue's teach me that I don't have enough concentration. I can hold 1 or 2 pages of this piece completely together, but not all 4 pages.
